my beloved marannook.

So, you know how I just told you that I made a last minute decision to spend Friday night at Marannook?  I am so thankful that I went.  See, this morning I received a phone call from my friend, Amy.  Manna Deck burned down in the middle of the night.  Let me explain... Manna Deck is basically the heart of Marannook.  This is where all meals are served, all Bible teaching is taught, all programs are performed.  I, alone, have a myriad of memories on that deck... and I am only one of hundreds of counselors and thousands of campers.  Get this... Manna Deck is in the middle of the woods.  Not a single tree caught on fire outside of the deck.  No one saw Manna deck on fire.  It simply happened in the middle of the night and was gone in the morning when the kitchen girls woke up to prepare breakfast.  You could only imagine the tragedy that could have occurred had anything caught on fire outside of the deck.  All the cabins and training center are beyond the deck in the woods, so, the counselors and campers would most likely have been caught.  Talk about having a sovereign God.  Please pray for Mr. Charles and Mrs. Barbra to have wisdom as to know what to do next.  Pray for the counselors while they take care of campers.
"Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
       Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
       Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak?
       Who has established all the ends of the earth?
       What is his name, and the name of his son?
       Tell me if you know!
 "Every word of God is flawless;
       he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."
- Proverbs 30:4-5

  1. That is CRAZY and scary and such a reminder of what a mighty God we serve (as cliche as that may sound). Wow. Mom told me about this yesterday, but for some reason your blog wouldn't come up until now. I really wanted to see pictures.

  2. Thanks for posting these pictures, Kate. I'm so thankful for the memories there as a camper, kitchie, and while we were on training staff. Thanks for the reminder of the sovereignty of God. Miss and love you, friend.
